Frances Prelan studied performance with the Cape Academy of Dramatic Arts, sister school to RADA, singing predominantly Musical Theatre roles, including: Scarecrow (Wizard of Oz), Sandy (Grease), Joanna (Sweeney Todd), Maria (Sound of Music), as well as in concert and private performances at the Baxter Theatre, ArtScape, V&A Waterfront and other national and international venues.

Frances only began Operatic training 3 years ago, first at City Lit, then Birkbeck, then with the Advanced Performers Studio. In this time she has performed in South Africa, Munich, Italy, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom. Her roles include: Sorceress (Dido & Aeneas), La Priere (Dialogue de Carmelites), 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflaute), and the Countess (Marriage of Figaro). She represented South Africa at the Concurso Internacional De Canto Montserrat Caballe in Spain, at the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin, and the Wagner Society Bayreuth Bursary Competition.

Frances is coached by Kelvin Lim(ENO, Opera Holland Park, Trinity). She works regularly with Ludmilla Andrews, Selina Cadell, Ricardo Serenelli, Robin Newton, James Batty, and has completed masterclass with Roger Vignoles, Sir Patrick Stewart, David Gowland, Brad Cohen and Jonathan Hinden.
